I started writing The Unknown Woman in 2018. I was inspired by Nnedi Okorfur's Who Fears Death, a novel I vividy remember reading over Thanksgiving in 2017 while I was living in Austin, Texas.

When I first put pen to paper, I had accepted it would take ten years or more to completely finish writing the novel. But I knew with 110% clarity I would finish it. I read three physics books, sketched out the worlds in a notebook, took classes, and wrote. This novel was on my heart begging for me to get it off my chest.

I was certain I only had one novel in me. But then, in the midst of world-building, something unexpected happened: I fell in love with one of the worlds. At that moment, The Unknown trilogy was borne.
